AMD Ryzen 7 8700G

Build around integrated graphics when leaving out a dedicated GPU is an intentional choice.

The decision

The eight-core 8700G belongs on a shortlist for an AM5 system that must work without a graphics card. Decide whether the extra CPU resources over the 8600G help your applications before paying for them; an eventual large GPU changes that comparison.

Consider it when

  • A desktop for work and lighter gaming where a separate GPU is being deliberately omitted.
  • A compact build that benefits from fewer expansion cards and power cables.

Look again when

  • A discrete-GPU gaming system where an ordinary Ryzen CPU plus the intended GPU is the better complete purchase.

The checks that can change your choice

Budget memory as part of the graphics system

Integrated graphics shares system memory. Buy enough RAM for the application and graphics allocation together, and use the motherboard-recommended paired slots; shared memory is not dedicated graphics VRAM.

Check the actual board outputs

Match the display resolution, refresh rate and connection to the motherboard manual. Also check its Ryzen 8000G support and CPU-dependent expansion-slot rules before planning later upgrades.
