AMD Ryzen 5 8600G

A six-core integrated-graphics route into AM5, with a clear reason to skip the graphics card.

The decision

Use the 8600G when the first configuration needs to be complete without a discrete GPU. Compare its motherboard and DDR5 cost against an AM4 APU build, then decide whether keeping the newer platform is worth the difference for your intended use.

Consider it when

  • A first desktop for office work, media and games whose requirements have been checked against integrated graphics.
  • An AM5 build where a dedicated GPU is a later possibility rather than an immediate requirement.

Look again when

  • A purchase plan that already includes a substantial graphics card; compare the 7600 or 9600 instead.

The checks that can change your choice

Do not count shared memory twice

Reserve RAM capacity for both ordinary applications and integrated graphics. A configured graphics allocation reduces the memory available to the operating system and does not behave like separate high-bandwidth VRAM.

Choose the upgrade route now

Read the motherboard manual for CPU-specific PCIe and storage behavior with an 8000G processor. A board feature advertised for another Ryzen family may have a different operating mode here.
