ABOUT THIS BUILD

The Ryzen 5 8600G provides Radeon 760M graphics in a compact desktop with no separate GPU. A two-stick 32 GB DDR5 kit serves both applications and integrated graphics; the 1 TB SSD leaves more storage than the AM4 APU example. Before treating a later graphics card as an easy upgrade, check the APU-specific slot connection and PSU requirements. Budget is a planning target, not a retailer quote. Image is an illustration.

Still to verify for CS2

  • Check the operating system and CPU against Valve’s Windows requirements; a core count alone cannot verify the processor.
  • Verify DirectX 11 and Shader Model 5.0 support for the exact GPU and installed driver. Shared system memory does not verify the video-memory requirement.
  • Confirm at least 85 GB of free storage on the installation drive. The capacity printed on an SSD is not its available space.

This changes the comparison advice below. Valve’s minimum memory requirements stay the same.

THE CHOICES BEHIND THIS PARTS LIST

Who this build is for

An AM5 desktop centered on integrated graphics, useful for considering a system without the purchase, power draw and physical space of a separate graphics card.

Why these components are together

The Ryzen 5 8600G supplies Radeon 760M graphics. That is a different choice from a CPU with no usable display engine, and it needs application-specific performance checks.

The two-module 32 GB DDR5 kit supplies system memory; integrated graphics also uses system memory. Capacity and memory settings should be considered together without treating an advertised profile as guaranteed.

The A620M-HDV/M.2, 1 TB NV3 and Q300L keep the rest of the system compact and straightforward. The single-tower cooler avoids radiator placement work.

Tradeoffs and checks before ordering

  • The motherboard's supported expansion and storage configuration can change with the CPU. Check the 8600G-specific lane and slot notes.
  • Verify the required BIOS for the exact APU and board.
  • Adding a discrete GPU later does not make this CPU's expansion layout identical to every other AM5 processor.

What to change first

For a future discrete GPU, compare the slot connection, PSU requirements and complete upgrade cost. If more local storage is the goal, inspect the available supported slot or drive connection before ordering another SSD.

Kingston KF556C36BBEK2-32 + ASRock A620M-HDV/M.2

The kit contains two 16 GB modules; the board has two DIMM slots. DDR5-5600 is a profile above the kit's DDR5-4800 default.

Build decision: A larger memory target means replacing this kit, not adding another pair. Integrated graphics also draws from system memory.

Still to check: Available memory depends on firmware graphics allocation and the operating system. Profile stability needs testing.

ASRock A620M-HDV/M.2

The board specifies M2_1 at Gen4 x4 and M2_2 at Gen3 x2; both accept the 2280 length.

Build decision: Use M2_1 for the first NVMe drive. Account for the slower connection if a second drive is added later.

Still to check: Heatsink clearance and drive firmware remain separate checks. The page's headline expansion limits do not verify the 8600G's actual GPU lane allocation.

148 mm heatsink; 159 mm case cooler limit: 11 mm nominal difference.

Build decision: Use the standard fan position as the starting layout. Do not spend the entire nominal margin by raising the fan.

Still to check: This compares published dimensions only; fan clips, memory interference, mounting kit and closed-panel clearance still need inspection.
