ASRock A620M-HDV/M.2
A restrained AM5 foundation with two distinct SSD positions
The A620M-HDV/M.2 suits a straightforward AM5 build when the required ports and a supported CPU are already known. It provides two memory slots and two storage M.2 positions, so choosing adequate RAM capacity initially avoids depending on spare DIMM slots later. Compare it with B650 on the features you need rather than assuming the inexpensive chipset is automatically the best saving.
Consider it when
- A modest AM5 machine with one matched DDR5 kit and a short expansion list.
Look again when
- You need many SATA drives, more expansion options, or four memory slots.
The checks that can change your choice
The second M.2 slot is the slower route
M2_1 is specified as PCIe 4.0 x4, while M2_2 offers PCIe 3.0 x2 or SATA. Reserve the first position for the drive whose workload needs more bandwidth. There are only two SATA ports, so count reused drives explicitly.
Prove the complete platform
Find the exact processor in this board’s CPU support list and compare its required BIOS with the installed version. Then check the exact memory kit, occupied slots and front-panel connectors. A matching socket or a published maximum memory capacity is only part of that check.

Check the manufacturer CPU support list and installed BIOS version before buying. Matching socket and DDR generation do not prove CPU support, memory-profile stability, power-delivery suitability, or PCIe/M.2 lane availability.
