MSI PRO A620M-E

One NVMe drive, a modest platform, and no unnecessary expansion promise

The decision

The PRO A620M-E works best when the storage plan really is one NVMe SSD plus any necessary SATA drives. Its compact micro-ATX layout and two DDR5 slots encourage a simple configuration. Buying a small SSD today and assuming another M.2 socket will be available tomorrow is a poor fit for this board; compare a two-slot alternative before committing.

Consider it when

  • An AM5 office or entry build with one adequately sized NVMe SSD.

Look again when

  • Your near-term plan includes a second M.2 drive or several add-in cards.

The checks that can change your choice

One M.2 socket makes capacity planning important

The single listed M2_1 position accepts 2260/2280 PCIe NVMe drives at up to Gen4 x4. Four SATA ports provide a different expansion path, requiring separate data and power cables. Confirm CPU support and suitable cooling rather than inferring them from socket alone.

Prove the complete platform

Find the exact processor in this board’s CPU support list and compare its required BIOS with the installed version. Then check the exact memory kit, occupied slots and front-panel connectors. A matching socket or a published maximum memory capacity is only part of that check.

Published specifications

AM5; micro-ATX; A620; two DDR5 slots; one PCIe 4.0 M.2 slot; Gigabit Ethernet; 211 × 243.84 mm.

Check the manufacturer CPU support list and installed BIOS version before buying. Matching socket and DDR generation do not prove CPU support, memory-profile stability, power-delivery suitability, or PCIe/M.2 lane availability.
