ASRock B650M Pro RS

Three SSD positions in micro-ATX, with different link widths

The decision

The B650M Pro RS is appealing when a smaller case still needs a boot drive, a working drive and later storage expansion. The three sockets are a more useful distinction than a broad gaming label. They do not all offer the same bandwidth, so put the drive with the heaviest sustained work in the appropriate socket and leave bulk files to the less demanding position.

Consider it when

  • A micro-ATX AM5 build with a planned multi-drive workflow and wired networking.

Look again when

  • You require onboard wireless from this exact non-Wi-Fi model or equal-speed SSD slots.

The checks that can change your choice

Assign each drive to its actual lane budget

The catalog lists M2_1 as Gen5 x4, M2_2 as Gen4 x4 and M2_3 as Gen4 x2. The CPU can further change the first link. Read the APU bandwidth table before assuming a Ryzen 8000-series configuration behaves like another AM5 processor.

Prove the complete platform

Find the exact processor in this board’s CPU support list and compare its required BIOS with the installed version. Then check the exact memory kit, occupied slots and front-panel connectors. A matching socket or a published maximum memory capacity is only part of that check.

Published specifications

Check the manufacturer CPU support list and installed BIOS version before buying. Matching socket and DDR generation do not prove CPU support, memory-profile stability, power-delivery suitability, or PCIe/M.2 lane availability.
