Intel Core i5-14400F

A ten-core LGA1700 option for a mixed-use PC that already includes discrete graphics.

The decision

The 14400F can be attractive when keeping a compatible board and memory saves a meaningful amount. Compare the non-F 14400 before discarding integrated display support: a small package-price difference may be worth paying for an easier diagnostic fallback.

Consider it when

  • A supported LGA1700 upgrade for everyday work, gaming and moderate parallel tasks.
  • A new system using a confirmed-value DDR4 bundle and a separate graphics card.

Look again when

  • A GPU-free first stage or a complete new platform purchase with little saving over newer alternatives.

The checks that can change your choice

F and non-F are different purchases

The F variant has no integrated graphics. If the GPU is removed or fails, motherboard HDMI and DisplayPort connectors cannot provide a working desktop from this processor.

Do not read turbo power as idle power

Intel publishes 148 W maximum turbo power for this model. That is not a constant consumption figure; cooler behavior depends on the workload, firmware limits and enclosure airflow.

Published specifications

10 cores / 16 threads; boost up to 4.7 GHz; LGA1700; DDR4/DDR5; 148 W maximum turbo power; discrete graphics required.
