Microsoft Xbox Wireless Controller (standard)
A familiar Windows controller whose connection choice changes the available features.
The standard Xbox Wireless Controller is a sensible starting point for games that work better with analog sticks or a controller layout. Decide between wired USB-C and a supported wireless connection before ordering accessories. The presence of a 3.5 mm jack does not mean headset audio is available through every connection to every host.
Consider it when
- Supported Windows games and a verified Bluetooth or wired USB connection.
- A user who wants a standard controller rather than the additional controls of an Elite model.
Look again when
- A purchase that assumes a USB-C data cable is included in every standard package.
- Expecting headset audio over Bluetooth without checking Microsoft’s connection guidance.
The checks that can change your choice
Budget the complete connection
Check the exact bundle for cable and power accessories. For wired PC use, choose a suitable data cable; a charging-only cable can power a device without providing the expected data connection.
Verify audio for the chosen mode
Controller features vary by operating system and connection. If using the headset jack is part of the plan, verify that specific wired or adapter route rather than assuming that successful Bluetooth game input proves audio support.
