LG 27GS75Q vs GIGABYTE M28U: 1440p refresh or 4K workspace?
Compare the LG 27GS75Q-B and GIGABYTE M28U around native resolution, refresh modes, GPU demand and USB/KVM connections.
Choose the display target around both desktop work and games. LG’s 1440p panel asks the GPU to render fewer pixels at native resolution; the M28U gives a 4K workspace and KVM functionality. Neither maximum refresh figure guarantees that a game runs at that rate. Check the selected input mode and GPU output before buying cables.
Choose around your situation
LG UltraGear 27GS75Q-B
Consider the 27GS75Q-B for a 1440p setup where higher-refresh gaming is a priority. Its 200Hz mode is an overclock setting; compare normal operation and connection limits rather than treating that number as universal.
GIGABYTE M28U
Consider M28U when a 4K desktop, fine detail or switching peripherals between computers has a specific use. Plan scaling and check the GPU and input path for the desired refresh mode.

| Check | LG UltraGear 27GS75Q-B | GIGABYTE M28U | What it means for your build |
|---|---|---|---|
| Panel / size | 27-inch IPS | 28-inch IPS | Size alone does not determine readable text or viewing distance. |
| Native resolution | 2560 × 1440 | 3840 × 2160 | 4K contains more pixels; this does not predict a proportional frame-rate change. |
| Refresh specification | 180 Hz native; up to 200 Hz OC | Up to 144 Hz | The monitor, cable and source must support the chosen mode. |
| Desk connectivity | HDMI / DisplayPort | HDMI / DisplayPort / USB-C; KVM | Check USB upstream and video routing separately when using KVM. |
Worked decision: one monitor for a work computer and gaming PC
List the ports on both computers and the keyboard/mouse connection you want to share.
Check video output capability on each computer. On M28U, some high-bandwidth modes require DSC; an HDMI version label alone does not prove the complete mode.
Check the USB upstream route needed for the KVM. A USB-C socket does not by itself guarantee your laptop supports video or sufficient charging.
Try the intended text scaling and desk distance where possible. Then compare game performance at the resolution you intend to use, not just the display’s maximum refresh number.
When to keep what you have
Keep a working monitor when its resolution, connections and motion handling already suit the task. A higher advertised refresh number cannot repair a GPU or CPU bottleneck.
Checks still to make
- Exact port, cable and input-mode table.
- Text scaling and physical desk distance.
- USB hub/KVM routing and GPU performance at the chosen settings.
