GIGABYTE M28U

A 28-inch 4K display for a PC-and-console desk, with bandwidth checked per source.

The decision

M28U offers a higher-resolution workspace and a high-refresh PC option in one monitor. That combination is useful if both jobs matter to you, but it also makes the GPU, cable and input mode part of the decision. Do not equate the HDMI 2.1 label with unrestricted support for every 4K format.

Consider it when

  • A 4K desktop whose GPU supports the required connection mode.
  • A multi-computer arrangement that can use the KVM with proper USB upstream cabling.

Look again when

  • Expecting a console to use the PC’s 144 Hz mode.
  • A GPU or cable path that cannot support the required compression and timing.

The checks that can change your choice

Check DSC for the desired HDMI mode

GIGABYTE specifies DSC for 4K 144 Hz 4:4:4 over HDMI, with console support up to 120 Hz. Verify the source, cable and colour format together before promising that configuration.

Map the KVM connections

Video and USB are separate parts of switching a keyboard and mouse. Connect the necessary upstream paths and test the desired PC-to-laptop changeover; a second video cable alone does not complete the KVM setup.
