Case fans · MODEL NOTES
Noctua NF-A12x15 PWM (brown, single fan)
A slim fan for a measured clearance problem, rather than a default replacement everywhere.
The NF-A12x15 PWM becomes useful where a full-depth 120 mm fan would collide with another component. Choose the slim design to solve that specific fit issue and then validate cooling in the finished system. A thinner fan should not be assumed to reproduce a thicker model’s airflow or acoustic behaviour at the same speed.
Consider it when
- A tight case or cooler position that explicitly accepts a slim 120 mm fan.
- A standard 12 V PWM header with adequate combined current capacity.
Look again when
- Reusing radiator screws sized for a much thicker fan without checking them.
- Expecting the brown PWM version to share all specifications with FLX or chromax versions.
THE SPACE IT NEEDS
Match the frame and the available depth
- Nominal frame size
- 120mm
- Fan thickness
- 16mm
Nominal frame size is not mounting-hole spacing. Check screw locations, thickness, cable routing and any radiator or nearby components.
Check case-fan installation ↗Based on the manufacturer specification record, checked . Check the exact revision and installation instructions before buying.
The checks that can change your choice
Count 16 mm with the pads
The nominal slim frame is 15 mm; the published padded depth is 16 mm. Check the complete installed arrangement, including screw heads and any nearby cables, rather than approving a gap from the bare frame alone.
Recalculate screw engagement
The smaller depth changes how far an existing screw can enter a radiator or mount. Use the correct hardware, then check the 0.13 A per-fan maximum against the header load and test for obstruction before closing the case.
Published specifications
120 × 120 × 15 mm slim frame; 16 mm including anti-vibration pads; up to 1850 RPM; 4-pin PWM; 12 V motor; no lighting.
