The decision

The NH-D15 G2 is a large two-fan cooler, so select it as part of the motherboard, memory and case combination. This entry describes the standard base version. HBC and LBC are distinct choices; a recommendation for one base shape should not silently become a recommendation for all three.

Consider it when

  • A chassis with verified room for the 168 mm assembly and any raised front fan.
  • A builder who wants a substantial air cooler and can plan around its footprint.

Look again when

  • A cramped socket area or a case fit relying on the older NH-D15 dimensions.
  • Buying the HBC or LBC variant as though it were the standard model.

The checks that can change your choice

Fan lift still counts

The current FAQ uses 32 mm RAM at 168 mm total height for the default fan placement. Taller modules can require a taller assembly, so compare the installed result with the side panel, not just the base specification.

Use the G2 motherboard check

Consult the exact G2 compatibility entry for the motherboard and CPU. This guards against interference near the socket and avoids assuming that a successful original NH-D15 installation proves the G2 fits.
