Noctua NH-U12S redux
A slim tower that puts space around the socket ahead of a larger dual-tower layout.
The NH-U12S redux makes sense when accessible memory and a relatively narrow cooler are more useful than filling the socket area. Its single NF-P12 redux fan also keeps the initial wiring simple. Decide on the 158 mm installed height and exact motherboard compatibility before assuming it will fit any ordinary ATX case.
Consider it when
- A conventional build where a slim single tower simplifies assembly.
- Reusing the cooler across supported sockets with the proper mounting parts.
Look again when
- A compact case with a height limit below 158 mm.
- A heavy sustained workload selected without checking cooling evidence for the CPU and power limits.

Confirm the manufacturer fan position, RAM clearance and the case side-panel limit. The drawing does not measure cooling performance.

The checks that can change your choice
Check the redux package contents
Older stock and second-hand units may not contain the mounting hardware shown on the current website. Include any required kit in the buying decision and check that all spacers and screws are present.
Do not buy a second fan by default
Start with the intended case airflow and fan curve. An additional fan is a separate fit, cabling and acoustic choice; the presence of mounting space alone does not prove that it improves your particular system.
