LG UltraGear 27GP850-B

A 27-inch QHD display whose fastest modes belong on DisplayPort.

The decision

The 27GP850-B is a practical reference point for a 1440p PC build: enough resolution for a larger workspace without starting at 4K. Choose it around the games, output port and stand arrangement you will actually use. Its 180 Hz overclock mode is not the native refresh rate and should not be the only reason to prefer it.

Consider it when

  • A QHD desktop with a DisplayPort output and an appropriate cable.
  • A user wanting height adjustment and portrait pivot in the supplied stand.

Look again when

  • Expecting HDMI to deliver the DisplayPort overclock mode.
  • A purchase assuming the USB hub replaces a laptop charging dock.

The checks that can change your choice

165 Hz native, 180 Hz overclock

The documented DisplayPort modes reach 165 Hz normally and 180 Hz with overclock enabled; HDMI tops out at 144 Hz. Select the actual rate in the operating system after configuring the monitor.

Connect the hub upstream

The two USB downstream ports require a separate USB upstream connection to the computer. A video cable alone does not make a connected keyboard or mouse available through the hub.
