ASRock B550 Phantom Gaming-ITX/ax
Retain AM4 in a genuinely small case
The B550 Phantom Gaming-ITX/ax is a small-system option when an AM4 CPU and DDR4 are worth reusing. Its 170 mm square board and onboard Wi-Fi avoid assuming that a separate wireless card will fit beside the graphics card. This is a legacy platform reference, so check condition, accessories and regional availability before comparing its cost with a current AM5 Mini-ITX build.
Consider it when
- A compact rebuild where the existing processor and memory meaningfully reduce total cost.
Look again when
- You need more than two DIMMs or several independent expansion cards.
The checks that can change your choice
Capacity and access need an enclosure plan
The recorded board limit is 64 GB across two DDR4 slots. Its first M.2 link depends on the CPU and the second is Gen3. Check cooler, memory and drive access against the case assembly order before installing the board.
Prove the complete platform
Find the exact processor in this board’s CPU support list and compare its required BIOS with the installed version. Then check the exact memory kit, occupied slots and front-panel connectors. A matching socket or a published maximum memory capacity is only part of that check.

Check the manufacturer CPU support list and installed BIOS version before buying. Matching socket and DDR generation do not prove CPU support, memory-profile stability, power-delivery suitability, or PCIe/M.2 lane availability. Legacy AM4 reference; regional availability is not confirmed.
