GIGABYTE B850I AORUS PRO (rev. 1.0)

AM5 Mini-ITX with a rear-mounted SSD to plan around

The decision

The B850I AORUS PRO is a small-form-factor alternative for an AM5 system needing Wi-Fi 7, 2.5 Gb Ethernet and two internal NVMe drives. Its two DDR5 slots make initial memory sizing important. The second drive belongs in the enclosure plan from the start: access behind the board can become inconvenient once the system is assembled.

Consider it when

  • A compact AM5 build whose case provides suitable access and clearance behind the board.

Look again when

  • You need several SATA drives, many expansion cards or easy in-place rear-SSD servicing.

The checks that can change your choice

Check the rear SSD and the exact revision

The recorded rev. 1.0 has M2C_SB on the back of the motherboard, so SSD thickness and any heatsink must clear the case tray. M2A_CPU is Gen5 with Ryzen 7000/9000 and Gen4 with Ryzen 8000. Both listed sockets use 2280 drives.

Prove the complete platform

Find the exact processor in this board’s CPU support list and compare its required BIOS with the installed version. Then check the exact memory kit, occupied slots and front-panel connectors. A matching socket or a published maximum memory capacity is only part of that check.
