The decision

The SF850 can be useful when a small enclosure needs SFX packaging and the actual GPU/CPU combination calls for more headroom than the SF750 plan provides. The 850 W number does not remove thermal and routing constraints in a dense case. Choose the enclosure airflow, GPU cable path and access for connector seating as part of the same purchase decision.

Consider it when

  • A compact SFX build with a justified 850 W requirement and a workable cable layout.

Look again when

  • A conventional ATX case would make longer standard cables and a larger PSU easier to install.

The checks that can change your choice

Short SFX dimensions do not guarantee cable reach

The 2024 CP-9020256 entry has a 100 mm body and Type 5 cables. Check the actual motherboard EPS and GPU routes, especially in a larger enclosure. Confirm the exact included connector inventory rather than assuming the wattage implies a particular number of GPU cables.

Check the whole power path

Compare the CPU and exact graphics card requirements with the PSU capacity and included connector arrangement. Count independent cable runs where the GPU manual requires them. Use only cables approved for this exact power supply; similar-looking modular plugs do not establish compatible wiring.
