ASUS PRIME B660M-A D4
Keep DDR4 in an LGA1700 rebuild
The PRIME B660M-A D4 is a practical comparison point when usable DDR4 and an LGA1700 processor are already part of the plan. Its two PCIe 4.0 M.2 sockets allow a boot drive and a separate project or game drive. For an entirely new machine, compare the whole platform cost rather than choosing an older board solely to preserve inexpensive memory.
Consider it when
- Reusing a matched DDR4 kit in a micro-ATX Intel build.
Look again when
- You want DDR5, faster onboard networking, or an LGA1851 processor.
The checks that can change your choice
D4 changes the purchase decision
This exact D4 model has DDR4 slots and 1 Gb Ethernet. DDR5 cannot be installed even if the chosen Intel processor supports both memory generations. Later LGA1700 processors still require an exact CPU-support and BIOS check.
Prove the complete platform
Find the exact processor in this board’s CPU support list and compare its required BIOS with the installed version. Then check the exact memory kit, occupied slots and front-panel connectors. A matching socket or a published maximum memory capacity is only part of that check.
