MSI B860M GAMING PLUS WIFI
LGA1851 connectivity for a compact case
The B860M GAMING PLUS WIFI combines a micro-ATX footprint with Thunderbolt 4, Wi-Fi 7 and 5 Gb Ethernet. It suits a build that genuinely needs those ports alongside an LGA1851 processor. This is a platform change from LGA1700, so a reusable Intel CPU cannot be assumed to fit simply because the board is also Intel-based.
Consider it when
- A smaller Core Ultra desktop build with named external devices and a checked processor.
Look again when
- You intend to retain a 12th-, 13th- or 14th-generation LGA1700 CPU.
The checks that can change your choice
Assign the three SSDs by bandwidth
M2_1 is listed as PCIe 5.0 x4, M2_2 as Gen4 x4 and M2_3 as Gen4 x2. The third socket is useful for capacity but not equivalent to the first two. Also confirm the required Thunderbolt device and cable support before counting on a particular display or storage arrangement.
Prove the complete platform
Find the exact processor in this board’s CPU support list and compare its required BIOS with the installed version. Then check the exact memory kit, occupied slots and front-panel connectors. A matching socket or a published maximum memory capacity is only part of that check.

Check the manufacturer CPU support list and installed BIOS version before buying. Matching socket and DDR generation do not prove CPU support, memory-profile stability, power-delivery suitability, or PCIe/M.2 lane availability.
