Compare this Core Ultra 5 250K Plus platform with an AM5 basket while keeping the RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB as a separate graphics choice. The 32 GB DDR5 kit and 2 TB SSD suit a larger installed library.   • Check the operating system and CPU against Valve’s Windows requirements; a core count alone cannot verify the processor.
  • Verify DirectX 11 and Shader Model 5.0 support for the exact GPU and installed driver. Shared system memory does not verify the video-memory requirement.
  • Confirm at least 85 GB of free storage on the installation drive. The capacity printed on an SSD is not its available space.

This changes the comparison advice below. Valve’s minimum memory requirements stay the same.

Who this build is for

A Core Ultra 5 250K Plus platform paired with a 16 GB GeForce card, intended for comparing Intel's complete platform with an AM5 alternative.

Why these components are together

The LGA1851 CPU and B860M board are selected together. They are not compatible substitutes for an older LGA1700 CPU and board combination.

The 32 GB DDR5 kit and 2 TB SN7100 support a broader installed software library than a smaller-capacity starter. Memory profile support depends on the full configuration and firmware.

The Phantom Spirit and AIR 903 BASE keep the system on an air-cooled tower layout. Check exact cooler mounting support and the CPU's documented operating limits before deciding on settings.

Tradeoffs and checks before ordering

  • The board's BIOS must explicitly support the Plus processor; socket fit alone cannot settle it.
  • A K-series CPU name does not mean every motherboard exposes the same tuning options.
  • Compare the platform's local total and actual applications against other CPU choices rather than using core count as a score.

What to change first

Use the board's current support list for any CPU replacement. If the limiting workload is graphics, a GPU change may be more direct, but the supporting power and clearance checks must be repeated.

The minimum BIOS for this pair has not been confirmed. The board manual documents Clear CMOS and M-FLASH, but no CPU-less Flash BIOS Button procedure.

Build decision: Match 250K Plus in this exact board's CPU Support table, not the WIFI6E model. Before ordering, ask the seller to confirm the minimum supported BIOS, the version installed on the shipped board and that 250K Plus can reach POST. Arrange a seller update if needed.

Still to check: No minimum version or out-of-box boot claim is made here. The exact CPU support row and the delivered board's installed BIOS still need confirmation.

Build decision: Plan around 32 GB capacity. Treat 6000 MT/s as a setting to validate after a successful default boot.

Still to check: The exact kit revision, board QVL match and stability with this CPU have not been verified on hardware.

M2_1 is Gen5 x4, M2_2 Gen4 x4 and M2_3 Gen4 x2.

Build decision: Start the NVMe drive in M2_1 or M2_2. Choose M2_3 only with its narrower link understood.

Still to check: Exact heatsink dimensions and the CPU's required BIOS are separate from this slot specification.

Phantom Spirit 120 SE + AIR 903 BASE

154 mm heatsink against a 180 mm case limit gives 26 mm nominal difference.

Build decision: Allow for the front fan over the DIMMs when planning the final height. The 154 mm figure alone is not a full fit approval.

Still to check: RAM overlap, fan clips and actual bracket inventory remain physical checks.
