WD_BLACK SN7100 2TB
The SN7100 2TB is the storage choice shared by the two featured Radeon lists. Its main contribution to those examples is a defined amount of storage; moving from one CPU or GPU tier to another does not add any drive space.
Choose it after checking your library, project files and available M.2 socket. A fast specification cannot make a nearly full drive larger or give an incompatible socket NVMe support.
Consider it when
- Your files, operating system and planned applications fit a 2 TB storage plan with room for updates and working files.
- The motherboard has an available 2280 NVMe socket and you have checked which existing ports or lanes it shares.
Look again when
- Your only free storage connector is SATA, or the available M.2 socket accepts SATA drives only.
- You are choosing it solely from a sequential-speed number while your main requirement is capacity, sustained writes or a particular application workload.
The checks that can change your choice
Check the full capacity and format
The 2 TB model is WDS200T4X0E, an M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4 x4 NVMe drive. Capacity is stated in decimal units; formatting and the operating system affect the space shown to you. Keep backups separate from the working drive.
Check the manufacturer document ↗Choose the socket before installing the GPU
For example, B650 GAMING PLUS WIFI accepts this 2280 NVMe format in either storage socket. Check the installed CPU and lane notes, then fit the drive and any specified motherboard heatsink before a large graphics card blocks access.
Check the manufacturer document ↗Do not turn an upper speed into a promise
The datasheet lists up to 7,250 MB/s sequential read for the 2 TB model. That is not an application loading time or a sustained-write guarantee. Compare workload-specific tests if that behaviour is the reason for replacing a working SSD.
Check the manufacturer document ↗Published specifications
