Audioengine A2+ Gen 3 (2026)
The Gen 3 A2+ for a compact desk that needs both USB audio and flexible source connections.
A2+ Gen 3 is a powered desktop pair with USB-C, analog inputs and Bluetooth. Its small format can suit a desk where larger bookshelf speakers would dominate, but it still needs mains power and a speaker-wire link. Verify the Gen 3 identity when buying; earlier A2+ Wireless and Next Gen listings should not supply this model’s specifications.
Consider it when
- A fixed desktop with an available outlet and room for two separately placed speakers.
- A PC using USB audio and a compatible secondary Bluetooth source.
Look again when
- Expecting USB-C to power the entire speaker system.
- Assuming aptX Adaptive is available from every phone or computer.
The checks that can change your choice
Codec support belongs to both ends
The specification lists Bluetooth 5.3 and aptX Adaptive among supported codecs. The source must support the selected codec too; otherwise the connection uses an available alternative, without proving a particular audible or latency result.
Check the manufacturer document ↗RCA output is line level
The variable RCA output can feed a suitable powered device. It is not a speaker-power output for arbitrary passive speakers; retain the specified left-to-right speaker connection and external power supply.
Published specifications
2.0 powered desktop speakers; USB-C audio / Bluetooth 5.3 / 3.5 mm / RCA; 2.75-inch woofers and 0.75-inch tweeters; variable RCA line output.

Gen 3 announced in September 2026, not the earlier A2+ Wireless or 2025 Next Gen model. Requires mains power and the speaker-wire link between the powered left and passive right speaker. aptX Adaptive needs a compatible source. RCA output is line-level, not a passive-speaker output.
