Edifier R1280DBs
A bookshelf pair for several source types, with a subwoofer output for a later addition.
R1280DBs suits a desk or small listening area where optical, coaxial, analog and Bluetooth sources are useful. The lowercase s matters: it identifies the version with a subwoofer output. Decide which inputs you actually need and leave enough room for a pair of bookshelf speakers rather than treating them like tiny monitor accessories.
Consider it when
- A fixed setup with mains power and space for the linked speaker pair.
- A digital source able to send the supported stereo PCM format.
Look again when
- A requirement for direct USB audio.
- Sending Dolby or DTS bitstreams to the optical or coaxial input.
The checks that can change your choice
Set the source to supported PCM
The verified optical/coaxial support is PCM at 44.1 or 48 kHz. Configure the computer or television accordingly; a compatible optical plug alone does not make every encoded audio format playable.
The subwoofer is a separate device
The sub output provides an expansion route, not a subwoofer in the package. Check the intended powered subwoofer’s input and placement, while retaining the required mains connection and wired link between the main speakers.
Published specifications
