Crucial T500 1TB
A Gen4 working drive when one terabyte fits the brief
The T500 1TB is a useful comparison with other Gen4 boot and working drives when the capacity is sufficient. It is more important to leave room for active files and updates than to choose a particular premium family. If the intended library is already near 1 TB, compare the T500 2TB or another larger drive before spending on a specification that cannot solve the space shortage.
Consider it when
- A supported Gen4 NVMe system with a clearly bounded operating-system and project footprint.
Look again when
- You expect the drive to hold a growing large library without another storage plan.
The checks that can change your choice
SSD8 identifies the recorded non-heatsink variant
CT1000T500SSD8 is the cataloged M.2 2280 version without an integrated heatsink. Check the motherboard cover, thermal-pad installation and space below the GPU. Treat the 1 TB specification as capacity-specific rather than transferring every advertised figure from the larger T500 models.
Plan migration and recovery
Keep a separate verified backup before cloning, formatting or changing a boot drive. Check the firmware and installation guidance for the exact model. Published capacity uses decimal units; formatting, the operating system and your applications leave less space available for files.
