Speakers comparison

Creative Pebble V3 vs Edifier MR4: fit the speakers to the desk and source

Compare USB/Bluetooth Pebble V3 with analog-input MR4 powered speakers through input routes, power, placement and microphone needs.

Do you want a compact USB setup or a deliberate analog speaker layout?

Pebble V3 supports USB-C audio, Bluetooth and AUX in a compact desktop arrangement. The original MR4 pair uses analog inputs and mains power. Choose by the space and source you have; driver size and output ratings alone do not establish which sounds better in your room.

Choose around your situation

01

Creative Pebble V3 (MF1700)

Consider Pebble V3 when a compact pair and USB audio simplify the desk. Power is still required when listening over Bluetooth or AUX, and its high-gain output needs the documented supply.

02

Edifier MR4 (original powered pair)

Consider the original MR4 when you have room for a pair and a suitable analog source. Use AUX/RCA from ordinary PC audio or balanced TRS from a compatible interface; the original MR4 has no Bluetooth or USB audio.

Worked decision: adding speakers to a USB-C laptop

Check whether you want one simple audio cable or already use an audio interface.

  1. For Pebble V3, choose USB audio or another input and confirm the supply meets the intended mode. Bluetooth does not remove the power cable.

  2. For MR4, select a suitable analog output path. A balanced TRS cable does not make an unbalanced source balanced. Include required adapters and cables in the purchase list.

  3. Place the pair with reasonable symmetry and clear listening paths. Compare at a comfortable level in the room; manufacturer specifications do not replace that check.

When to keep what you have

Keep existing speakers if they fit the room and connections. Repositioning them or resolving a noisy source can be more relevant than replacing the pair.

Checks still to make

  • Audio source, cable and power route.
  • Space for both speakers and their interconnect.
  • Separate microphone requirements for calls.
